Big Bag Recovery, a leading Australian Government Accredited Product Stewardship Scheme committed to the sustainable management of sack and bulk bags, is pleased to announce the addition of Hop Products Australia (HPA) as its newest member. This collaboration marks an important milestone in both companies’ shared dedication to environmental stewardship and waste reduction.

HPA, a renowned grower and supplier of high-quality hops and innovative hop products to the brewing industry, continues to integrate sustainability initiatives into its business on the journey towards minimising its environmental impact. By joining forces with Big Bag Recovery, HPA will contribute to the circular economy by recycling its bulk bags through the program.

Under this partnership, HPA will send its used bulk bags to Big Bag Recovery to have the bags processed into resin pellets and manufactured into new life products such as water evaporation disks, and school and community seats.

Program Manager, Helena Tierney of Big Bag Recovery, expressed enthusiasm regarding the addition of HPA to the program.

“We are thrilled to welcome Hop Products Australia as our newest member. Their decision to partner with Big Bag Recovery demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainability and responsible waste management. Together, we can make a significant impact on reducing waste and promoting the recycling of bulk bags in the brewing industry.”

Big Bag Recovery remains committed to expanding its network of members and promoting sustainable practices throughout various industries. The addition of HPA to its program demonstrates the growing recognition of the importance of waste reduction and the circular economy principles. This collaboration sets a positive example for other organisations in the brewing industry and beyond, inspiring them to join the movement towards a greener and more sustainable future. About Big Bag Recovery

Big Bag Recovery (BBR) is a private enterprise and part of the Industry Waste Recovery group – a band of industry leaders and product stewardship professionals focussed on better waste management and recycling practices.

Farm Waste Recovery was founded by Stephen Richards in 2015 as a proof of concept.  In 2015 the company evolved into Industry Waste Recovery’s Federal Government accredited Big Bag Recovery in 2021.

Big Bag Recovery operates a recovery program for plastic bags over 15kg/l of contents (sack and bulk bags). The program only includes recyclable bags that are woven polypropylene (wPP) and low-density polyethylene (LDPE). The program allows for two sizes: sacks and bulk bags. Big Bag Recovery aims to reduce waste, conserve resources, and create a more sustainable future.
